Maurice Shows His Face

[Click to see a larger version]…in a shamelessly self-glorifying way. I'm well aware that nobody is actually interested, but that never stopped me before from doing anything.

So click here and visit The Maurice Dekker Photo Gallery, which also contains pictures of my cats. And to start you off, here's the real life Mr. Burns of The Simpsons: [Click to see a larger version]

At the same time I'll just tell a little something about myself. I'm 26 years old, live in The Netherlands (oh, as if you hadn't figured that one out already) and on the fast track to becoming a corporate whore. Or in any case a "Junior Application Engineer". Whatever that may mean.

[Star Wars: Episode I Poster - Click to see a larger version] So, what other things of interest shall I tell you about myself? Well, my favourite films of all time are, American Beauty, The English Patient, Fight Club and Star Wars; The Empire Strikes Back (just like the other 3 Star Wars films). And as Star Wars fan (of sorts), I'm of course closely following the new instalment, Episode II. And while you're looking, take a look at JediNet's Prequel Watch.
If, on the other hand, you're a little worried about it all, check out the site for worried fans of Star Wars, The Foundation for Worried Star Wars Fans.

My favourite books are (among others) Michael Ondaatje's The English Patient, Julian Barnes's Flaubert's Parrot, of course Leonard Cohen's Beautiful Losers, David and Chuck Palahniuk's Fight Club.

My Top 15 books will tell you what I think are the best books I've read.

Poetry-wise I'm not that well-versed (ouch!), but I really loved Leonard Cohen's Death of a Lady's Man (not to be confused with the album with the similar name of Death of a Ladies Man).

As far as music is concerned, there's (again) Leonard Cohen, together with Pulp (His 'N' Hers must be the best album released in the 90s), Neil Young, and of course The Beatles (your life will never be the same after listening to Revolver and realising everything you've always listened to has been done before - by the Beatles).

The Whose Links? page will guide you to websites on these people and things, which are well worth checking out.

[Calvin & Hobbes - Click to see a larger version]Oh, and lest I should forget, I'm also a great fan of The Far Side and, especially, Bill Watterson's Calvin and Hobbes. I would recommend all and any of those books to anyone with even an ounce of humour.

And gee! there's still more to me, but most importantly, I play the guitar (see also the John Lennon Guitar Chords Archive) and although I sometimes get chords from OLGA and the like, they're often dead wrong. A good example is Radiohead's Exit Music (For a Film) which, if you want to know the chords to it, you can get by clicking the title. [Click to see a larger version]

And I like films. Well, usually anyway, in a meta kind of way. I mean, there isn't much that I really like, though I do always enjoy watching a film.

[Click to see a larger version] And for all those crap films that exist and are still being made (oh, the humanity!), I have drawn up ten commandments which I would like to see imposed on films and filmmakers, and which you can view by clicking The Ten Commandments for Films and Filmmakers.

If you are still nosy (Lord knows why), have a look at all the questions you never wanted to ask in the infallible Question Time

Life wasn't meant to be led like this. What are you doing here while there's a world waiting outside whose cancer-inducing electromagnetic radiation is by far not as bad. Go!
